Members win against Gorizia in the last match

On the trailing and 3 times postponed match 3. round 2. SKL for men, the members of KK Portorož recorded their 6th victory. The decimated but extremely combative Gorica team (only 8 of them arrived in the match, without the injured Močnik, Vinazza and Vrabec, the sick captain Cvetičanin was missing from Portorož) successfully resisted this time the favored sailors. In the final quarter, they lost their strength and conceded significantly, and the fairly high point difference does not reflect what is actually happening on the court.

The match started quite badly for the sailors, as the guests, directed by Portorož legionnaire in the Gorica jersey Sebastian Borset, made a difference of 8 points in a few minutes – it was 2:10. After a minute of rest by home strategist Denis Nusdorfer, the hosts rallied a bit and began to swell on offense, so the first quarter ended in a draw 18:18. In the second quarter, the hosts managed to take the lead with +5 (29:24) in the 14th minute and it seemed that the technique was tilting to the side of the favored hosts, but the Gorica team did not give up and turned the result around in a few minutes (32:33), the performance of the hosts was pale without energy, the game did not run in any way… The Highlanders won halftime with a score of 32:35.
In the third quarter, a similar story, the Sailors’ game without energy, inaccurate throws and lost balls resulted in Gorica’s lead in the 25th minute for +8 (43:51), later in the 28th minute it was already +9 (49:58), fortunately for the hosts, they made a partial score of 6:0 in the last two minutes (baskets by Kavgić, Škerbec and Bahor) and managed to reduce the lead to 55:58 and thus keep the connection before the last quarter.

The final quarter began with two consecutive 3-point baskets by the A’s: The Warriors and Mariners took a 61-58 lead.
The game was tied for the next few minutes, with Goica taking the lead for the last time in the 33rd minute at 65-66. After consecutive baskets by A. Rogelja (1), T. Škerbec (3) and M. Končarj (2), Portorož came to a 71:66 lead, which they never let go of. In the 37th minute, Gorica came close to 3 points for the last time (73:70), in the next attack, the best individual of the game, Andraž Rogelja, hit a three-pointer again and the game was decided. Vogrin put the finishing touches on the “i” with a three-pointer in the final second of the game for the final 85-71.
