Defeats of members and juniors

JANČE - PORTOROŽ 74:68 (12: 17, 21: 27, 15: 13, 26: 11)

Portorož, like against Gorizia, squandered the victory in the last two minutes of the match. Despite the fact that Kavgic and Cvetičanin still did not play, the Portorož youngsters played excellently in the first half with a score of 33:44. They opened the third quarter even better and quickly gained an 18-point advantage 33:51, two minutes before the end of the third quarter, the guests led +17 (38:55), and then another eclipse followed, which was the result of irresponsible play of individuals both on offense and defense, and the hosts managed to make a partial score of 10:2 in two minutes. and thus get closer to -9 before the last 10 minutes of the game (48:57).
The last quarter was a story in itself, as the referees also added their own, who did not sanction the aggressive (“handball”) defense of the hosts, and so the hosts tied the score at 63:63 with an aggressive defense in the 37th minute. The decisive mistake was made to the detriment of Portorož by the referee one minute and 30 seconds before the end, when Portorož had the offense leading 68:67. Rogelja passed the ball to Škerbec in the attack, the pass was redirected by the home player to the side throw-in. The referee under the basket was covered and did not see what had happened, he looked towards the other referee who was located far from the event in the middle of the court diagonally on the other side, this one
he “memorized” the ball to the home side (to the amazement of both home and away players). The hosts accepted the gift and took a 69-68 lead in the next attack. Nevertheless, the Portorožans still had a chance to win, but in the next attack, S. Rogel missed both free throws. In the next attack   It’s for the locals S. Rogelja made a completely necessary personal foul on the home team Belko in the middle of the court, thanks to the bonus, the home team had 2 free throws, which they took advantage of for 71:68. Then the hosts committed a personal foul on A. Rogelja, who also missed both free throws. In the continuation, the guests did not score again, but the hosts made 3 of 4 free throws for the final 74-68.
In the next round, Portorož hosts the hottest team of the 2nd SKL Litija, which has won the same number of matches in the last 4 games, and which last night also defeated the favored Slovan in the second leg.

The analysis and commentary of the events was given in a statement after the match by a visibly disappointed home coach Denis Nusdorfer.

The still undefeated Portorož juniors lost the derby of the 2nd SKL for juniors against their peers from Ilirska Bistrica.
