COVID-19: COMMUNICATION FROM KZS

IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NEW DECREE, ONLY FIRST LEAGUES CONTINUE WITH THE CHAMPIONSHIP

Ljubljana - At its session on 20 October 2020, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia adopted a Decree on temporary restrictions on the performance of sports activities. In collective sports, it is thus allowed to hold competitions in the highest quality level of national, regional, international or European competitions in the sports of ice hockey, basketball, football, volleyball and handball. This means that, in accordance with the decree, only the competitions of the 1st SKL for members and the 1st SKL for members will continue. Other member competitions and all competitions in the younger age categories have been postponed until further notice. At its session on 20 October 2020, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia adopted the Ordinance on temporary restrictions on the performance of sports activities. The decree will enter into force on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette, ie on Thursday, 22 October 2020. The matches scheduled for 21 October 2020 will take place according to the schedule.

Pursuant to the adopted decree, the implementation of sports programs is no longer permitted in accordance with Article 46 of the Sports Act, which refers to paragraph 1 of Article 6 of the Sports Act. This means that it is not allowed:

1. leisure sports education of children and youth;
2. physical education of children and youth with special needs;
3. extracurricular sports activity;
4. sports education of children and youth, focused on quality and top sports;
5. quality sport;
6. top sport;
7. sports for the disabled;
8. sports recreation;
9. sports for the elderly.

Irrespective of the record in paragraph 1 of Article 2 of the adopted decree, it is permitted for athletes to carry out the process of sports training, ie exclusively training:
- with the title of Olympic, world, international and perspective class from the first paragraph of Article 33 of ZŠpo-1,
- professional athletes over the age of 15 who are entered in the register of professional athletes at the ministry responsible for sport.

Collective sports are also allowed to hold competitions in the highest quality level of national, regional, international or European competitions in the sports of ice hockey, basketball, football, volleyball and handball, which means that the competitions will continue accordingly 1. SKL for members and 1. SKL for members. All matches must be played without the presence of spectators.

All athletes participating in the mentioned competitions are allowed the process of sports training. Trainings of these teams are therefore allowed (in accordance with point 3 of Article 3 of the Decree).

Other member competitions and all competitions in the younger age categories are postponed until further notice.

An adjusted calendar of all competitions that do not continue and any adjustments to the competition systems will be known at a later stage, after it will be known again that the competitions can be continued. We will inform you about this in a timely manner, and in accordance with the recommendations of the KZS Expert Council, the teams will have enough time to prepare for the resumption of competitions.
