
Ljubljana - At its sessions in May and June, the Commission of the Basketball Association of Slovenia for Licensing Basketball Clubs discussed the received documentation of clubs in the process of obtaining competitive licenses for the 2020/2021 season. 46 clubs applied for a license, but two of them did not receive a license to play in the league for which they applied. KK Koper Primorska and KK Radenska Creativ from Murska Sobota remained without a license.
While the people of Soboč have not yet completed the initiated licensing process, the people of Kopr have not received the license for the 1st SKL because they have not demonstrated the fulfilment of some of the mandatory financial criteria. Both of them can appeal to the Licensing Appeals Chamber with new evidence and within the prescribed time limit, otherwise they can compete in the 2020/2021 competition season in the 4th Division. SKL.
In the first part of the licensing process for the 2020/2021 competitive season, clubs were required to submit documentation demonstrating the relevant sporting, legal and financial criteria for the 2019 calendar year. 11 clubs applied for a competitive license for the 1st SKL (Nova KBM League), 14 clubs submitted an application for the 2nd SKL and 21 clubs for the 3rd SKL, while women's clubs do not carry out licensing. The clubs of the 1st SKL, 2nd SKL and 3rd SKL will have the second part of the licensing process in September, when they will have to confirm the competition license with the appropriate personnel, infrastructure and financial criteria for the first half of the calendar year 2020.
Competition licenses granted for the 2020/2021 season:
1. SKL – Liga Nova KBM (10 clubs): KD Hopsi Polzela, KK Cedevita Olimpija, KK Domžale, KK Krka Telekom, KK Podčetrtek, KK Rogaška, KK Šenčur Gorenjska stavebna družba, KK Šentjur, KK Triglav and KK Zlatorog Laško.
2. SKL (14 clubs): AKK Branik, KD Ilirija, KD Nova Gorica mladi, KD Postojna, KD Slovan, KK Celje, KK Kolpa Črnomelj, KK Litija, KK Ljubljana, KK Medvode, KK Portorož, KK Sežana, KK Škofja Loka, KK Žoltasti Troti.
3. SKL (20 clubs): KD Ježica, KK Ajdovščina, KK Bistrica, KK Cerknica, KK Grosuplje, KK Hidria, KK Hrastnik, KK Janče, KK Kamnik, KK Nazarje, KK Pivka, KK Plama pur, KK Prebold 2014, KK Slovenske Konjice, KK Tolmin, KK Vojnik, KK Vrhnika, KK Zagorje, ŠD Jesenice, ŠD Krvavec Cerklje.
The composition of the leagues in the 2020/2021 competitive season will be known after the completion of the competition call and the expiration of the appeal period on licensing decisions. When compiling the individual rankings of the competition, the commissioner will take into account the conditions that the member teams must meet. In addition to the license granted by the Basketball Federation of Slovenia Commission for the licensing of basketball clubs, these are the acquired right to perform on the basis of competitive performance and the submitted application for the competition in accordance with the tender.
