Members in the final 7th place 2. SKL

Defeat in Novo Mesto in the 22nd round

Troti - Portorož 69: 50 ( 23: 14, 14: 13, 18: 13, 14: 10)

In the match of the 22. rounds in 2. SKL was a guest in Novo Mesto with the Trot team. Portorož has never won a championship match in the sports hall in Livada, and so it was this time. The hosts played without Janežič, Portorož without Kavgić. From the point of view of the final ranking in the 2nd SKL standings after the regular part of the championship, the match for Portorož did not have a competitive charge, but the hosts urgently needed a win if they wanted to count on the final 4th place, which would bring them home advantage in the first part of the playoffs. The hosts quickly took a 16-2 lead with a series of three-pointers. After a minute of break and a few substitutions, Portorož reduced the score to 16:8, followed by another series of the hosts, who won the first quarter for +9 (23:14). In the second quarter, the game was more even, Portorož reduced the score to 30:25, with a three-pointer in the last seconds until the hosts ended the half with +10 (37:27).
In the 3rd period, the hosts hit 4 three-pointers to lead by 21 points (53-32). With a score of 53-36 , in the 28th. A minute later, Portorož coach Nusdorfer pulled three of his top scorers Škerbec, Rogelja A. and Cvetičanin out of the game (in the absence of possible injuries before the playoff matches), who then did not enter the game again. The last quarter was played by the “reserves” of both teams. A well-deserved victory for the Trots, which, however, did not bring them the desired 4th due to the victory of Ježica over Janče. cities. Due to the defeat of Litija in Celje, Portorož took the final 7th place after the regular part of the 2. SKL.

During the week, POSTOJNA played the match of the 21st round in Litija and defeated the locals with a score of 62:75.

Triglav, Slovan, janče, sežana, troti, ježica, portorož and litija in the finals

Gorizia, Medvode, Celje and Postojna in the league for survival

With Celje’s surprising victory in Gorizia, the last doubt about who would play in the playoffs was gone. There was a theoretical possibility that Gorica, with two wins in the last two games and defeats of Litija and Portorož, would overtake Litija in the round of three teams and qualify for the playoffs instead of the latter.
With Gorica’s home defeat (counting double), the playoff pairs are so familiar.
In the event that there are no surprises in the last 22nd round of the 2nd SKL and that the favorites win, the following pairs of the first round of the playoffs are indicated:
ECE Triglav – Portorož, Slovan – Litija, Ježica – Sežana and Janče – Troti.

In the relegation league, Gorica has the best position (win-loss ratio 5:1), Medvode (4:2), Postojna (2:4) is in the worst position, and Postojna (2:4) is in the worst
Celje (1: 5 ) . A fierce battle is expected in the relegation league, as it takes at least 8 wins to survive in the 2nd KL.

High victory of the younger members

Konjice-Zreče - Portorož 60: 89 (22:17, 7: 23, 11: 28, 20: 21)

With a high victory in Slovenske Konjice, the U20 team of KK Portorož has already 2 games before the end secured the final 3rd place in the B1 group 1.B SKL,
they were only behind the first league teams Rogaška and Terme Olimia.
Portorož arrived in Konjice without Bordon, who was ill. Today’s game was better opened by the hosts and won the first quarter by 5 points (22:17).
In the second quarter, with a strong defensive play and an effective offensive game, the young Sailors made the decisive difference, winning the quarter with 7:23 left in the game and leading by 11 points at halftime (29:40). They continued to play the same game in the third quarter ( 11:28 in half) for the score after the 3rd quarter (40:68).
In the last quarter, Portorož strategist Đorđević offered a chance to all players, but the last quarter was also won by the Sailors (20:21) for the final 60:89.

Defeat against Ježica 84: 91

Portorož - Ježica 84: 91 (26: 34, 23: 19, 24: 13, 11: 25)

With Ježica leading by two points in the 39th minute (82: 84), the Sailors wasted two attacks, followed by a quick penalty and 7 consecutive points of the guests (82: 91), the final result was set by the home captain Cvetičanin (84: 91).
Otherwise, the game started better for the guests, after the initial lead of the Portorožans (9:8) followed a series of guests 0:9 for a partial result of 9:17, with a series of 3-point shots Ježica maintained the lead and then won the first quarter for 8 (26:34) (with the last 6 points scoring in just 15 seconds after incredible mistakes by the hosts on passes). In the second quarter, the visitors led 30-43 and 32-45. A series of baskets by the hosts followed, who managed to tie the score by halftime to reduce the score to -4 (49-53). A turnaround ensued in the third quarter, with a zone defense almost completely disabling the Hedgehogs and winning the quarter with a partial score of 24-13 for a 73-66 lead.
As is unfortunately usual this season, the Mariners’ shooting eclipse followed at the beginning of the last quarter, with Haskič scoring a basket in six minutes and Cvetičanin scoring a three-pointer in six minutes. Hedgehog led 78-79. Also in the rest of the game, only Haskič scored 4 (two goals) and Cvetičanin scored from under the basket in the last attack.   Unfortunately, the Portorož team wasted too many open throws in the last 10 minutes.
There were too many passing errors, too, so that in the end the result is the twelfth defeat of the season.
With the defeat, Portorož unfortunately seems to have wasted their chances for the final 7th place, which could have avoided a strong Triglav team in the first round of the playoffs.
The best scorer of Portorož was captain Cvetičanin 20 points (4 three-pointers), followed by Škerbec 14 points (1x3T), Rogelja A. 12 points (2x3T), Haskič 12 points, Rogelja S. 10 points, Kilibarda 6 points (1x3T), Bahor 5 points (1x3T), Kavgič 3 points (1x 3T), Končar 2 points, Krmac and Cleg finished the game without a basket. Vogrin didn’t get a chance to play.

In the last round, Portorož is away to Troti in Novo Mesto, who are in the game for the final 2nd place and a better starting point in the playoffs.
The first round of the playoffs follows.
